The Pole fitness® workout is suitable for anybody who wants to become stronger, more toned, and more flexible, but also prefers a sociable and fun workout. The workout is accessible for everybody, fit or not fit. The program offers a perfect build up and composition of techniques in levels, so that everyone – independent of fitness background – can start this challenge in a safe and attainable way.
Yes, Pole fitness® is good for every woman! There is no fitness program that is easier than Pole fitness®. Your instructor teaches you the basic principles of the exercises and coaches you extensively and enthusiastically for every new technique. You can make it as challenging and difficult as you like.
Practicing Pole fitness® has many benefits. Both physical and mental benefits. Not only do you develop more endurance, muscle power and flexibility, you also improve your figure and it is a fun workout. Pole fitness® is besides good for your fitness also good for you self-esteem, because you learn the most spectacular dance- and pole techniques. Due to their variation in dance- and pole techniques, the lessons keep on being a challenge and your self-confidence grows because during this high-impact workout you learn skills that you never thought you would learn.
Pole dancing is a form of entertainment, with the goal to amuse others. Pole fitness® which is practiced in gyms and dance schools, is a complete workout developed to improve your figure, endurance and muscle power. Moreover, Pole fitness® is a fun way to develop fitness abilities. During a Pole fitness® workout many muscle groups are trained, on both muscle power and muscle endurance.
Pole fitness® is a unique combination between gogo-aerobics and pole techniques. The result is a high impact workout where ones strength and general endurance are trained intensively and effectively. During the execution of the pole techniques one trains a large number of muscles effectively, for example biceps, triceps, shoulders, abs, back, and many more muscles. Not only strength is trained, but also muscle endurance and coordination. On the basic level of the Pole fitness® training we practice techniques that only slightly strain the muscles. This way the muscles are developed and prepared for more advanced (and harder) techniques. All-in all you will learn a piece of dance choreography and a number of pole techniques at your own level. Later you will learn to combine these.
That depends on your own preference, and also of course on the possibilities of the gym or dance school where you take your Pole fitness® classes. You can do it one, two or three times a week. We advise to schedule at least one day of rest between two Pole fitness® lessons. Even though you notice the benefits of Pole fitness® already very well when you take one lesson a week, some more dedicated ladies take two or even three Pole fitness® lessons a week. Before you realize, you are addicted to this varied workout!
Due to the fitness character of the Pole fitness® lessons and the high impact of the dance and pole exercises, the Pole fitness® workouts are not suitable for children or young adolescents. Too much strain on not yet fully grown (children)bones may damage the zone of bone growth as a consequence. Therefore, children below the age of fifteen are advised against practicing intensive work outs like Pole fitness®. As of the age of fifteen or sixteen, your daughter can easily start Pole fitness® classes. When in doubt regarding the physical condition of your daughter or the ideal age to start with Pole fitness®, we advise you to consult a physician.
You are never too old to exercise, nor for Pole fitness®. During the Pole fitness® classes every participant encounters a training at her own level. During the classes people of all ages train together, and encourage each other.
Because of the diversity in the exercises, the Pole fitness® workout is accessible to all women, fit or not fit, flexible or not flexible. The program offers a perfect build up and composition of different techniques at different levels, so that everybody – independent of fitness background- can start this challenge in a safe and feasible way. You do not need much strength or fitness beforehand, because both your muscles and endurance will be build up by this high-impact work out. Because every body is different in fitness and flexibility, for one person the exercises will be easier than for another person. Fortunately, there are so many exercises in the training schedule, that there is something in it for everyone. All Pole fitness® participants train at their own level and you can perform the exercises for either recreational or more serious (e.g. competitive) purposes. Regardless of the level you train at, fact is that you can expect sore muscles from the Pole fitness® exercises, because you will use muscles that you probably have never used intensively before.
Yes, the dance pole can carry any woman of any weight. Our dance pole has been developed specifically for this high impact workout and can handle a lot. Someone’s weight does not matter when it comes to the stability of the pole. What does matter, however, is the way of installing a dance pole, for example at home. That is why it is important to place and secure the pole in the right way and to keep on checking whether the dance pole is properly secured before you use it.
No definitely not. This is because of the balanced program that minimizes injuries. At the basic level of Pole fitness® trainings the musles are only lightly strained. This way muscles are build and coordination improves. After that, techniques that require more muscle power and technique follow. This minimizes chances to get injured.
Ask your doctor’s advice when in doubt about whether you can join Pole fitness® lessons or not. If you are seeing a physiotherapist, he or she can inform you regarding the workout and regarding taking lessons or not. For more information regarding Pole fitness® exercises you can refer your doctor or physiotherapist to our website, www.polefitness.com.
No, that is not necessary. Through Pole fitness® lessons, your power is build up gradually. The workout itself is also a form of power training.
At the basic level of the Pole fitness® training, your muscles are strained relatively light. This way your muscles are build and coordination improves. After that, you will learn techniques that require more muscle power and coordination. In general you can say that Pole fitness® not only improves your fitness and flexibility, but also builds your muscles.
No, definitely not. Pole Fitness® is an exceptionally good workout to get good looking arms. Your arms will get stronger and more toned, without getting blown up or maybe ‘masculine’.
Although the lessons are followed by a variety of women of all ages, backgrounds, and nationalities, we have noticed that the average age of the participants is 33 years. The workout is accessible for anyone, fit or not fit. The program offers the perfect build up and composition of techniques and levels, so that everybody – independent of sports background, fitness, or figure – can start this challenge in a safe and attainable way.
The Pole fitness® program is developed especially for females and at the muscles of females. Therefore, group lessons mainly consist of women.
You can wear regular fitness clothing that you would wear for any other kind of fitness workout. Too many cloths may impede you to properly execute some of the exercises. Pole fitness® participants who are more advanced usually wear short trousers to have more grip during the pole techniques where they clench the pole between their legs.
No, it’s not necessary to own a fitness pole to be able to take Pole fitness® classes. Pole fitness® is taught at gyms and dance schools where several fitness poles are available. However, learning pole techniques goes quicker when you have a fitness pole at home.
Most important is that you wear comfortable fitness clothing so that your can move around easily. There are no clothing prescriptions for a Pole fitness® workout. For clothing inspiration you can check our webshop, where we offer several shorts to get more grip during pole techniques where you clench the pole between your legs. It is also very useful to have a bottle of water with you. Because of the intensity of the exercises you burn many calories which may make you thirsty. Moreover, it is useful to bring a towel, for yourself or to dry the pole.
We advise to not use gels or lotions during or before the lessons, because those reduce your grip on the pole. Moreover, your fellow students who will use the pole later that day cannot use it properly then. To increase your grip on the pole, we offer several tools in our webshop, like gloves and (liquid) chalks.
With sweaty hands it can be hard to spin the pole properly. Especially when you need to take hold of the pole firmly. Although you can use several trics to get better grip, we advise you to use the Pole fitness® gloves or one of the different kind of chalks. Those are ideal way to increase your grip.

That is personal. Some Pole fitness students prefer taking off their rings, while others wear them because they do not bother them during the exercises. Because the workout also involves pole techniques, it is probably better to take off bracelets, necklaces, and earrings before the lesson.
Pole fitness® lessons are thought exclusively in group fitness classes in gyms or dance schools, by licensed Pole fitness® instructors. With the ‘locator’ on our website you can find all locations where Pole fitness® classes are taught.
During Pole fitness® classes people train in small groups; three, four or more groups, that depends on the gym or dance school. Every group trains guided by their experienced Pole fitness® instructor. For optimal results we advise 4-5 students per pole. With too little participants on one pole there may be a risk for injuries due to overstraining, while too many participants on one pole may reduce the quality of the workout. More advanced students who are fit can handle training with less students on one pole.
That differs between the different locations where you can practice Pole fitness®. It is best to ask the relevant location (fitness center, dance school or gym).
At most locations where you can practice Pole fitness, you can take an introduction class. To be certain, please contact the relevant fitness center, dance school or gym.
The costs of a Pole fitness® lesson can differ between the different locations (as well as membership and other costs). To be sure please ask the relevant sport, fitness or dance school where you want to do our workout.
On the Pole fitness® website you will find information about the classes at the fitness centers, gyms or dance school in your area. To be sure it is best to ask the relevant location questions about booking a class.
Your experience is definitely a benefit. With Pole fitness® you intensively work with your costumers. How to transmit information? How to meet your costumer’s learning style? What techniques to teach them in which order? Those and more questions will be dealt with.
So, do not hesitate and register for the Basic I Instructor training!
Pole fitness® classes are exclusively taught as group lessons in gyms or dance schools by licensed Pole fitness® instructors. If an instructor is not on the list, she probably does not have a license. Pole fitness® only gives licenses to instructors who successfully completed an instructor training. So, if someone is not on our list of instructors, she either did not apply for a license or did not meet our quality requirements.
If you let us know here who it is about, than we will have a look for you whether she is licensed.
